Position Summary/Scope

HighRoads is hiring a Product Owner (PO) to drive the document generation and filing capabilities of the P2A Platform. HighRoads is looking for a PO with experience in Healthcare – preferably in the payer market and with plan document and regulatory experience. The PO is responsible for driving end-to-end discovery, elaboration of functional and non-functional requirements, functional design, delivery, and adoption of the related product capabilities for the target market. The PO will report to the Director of Product Management and collaborate with a cross-functional team to define, design, and deliver the capabilities.

Responsibilities/Success Factors

Specifically, the Product Owner is a lead role and will have the following ownership & responsibilities:

  • Planning & Leadership: Understand and contribute to the development of the product roadmap by having a clear understanding of the market needs and drivers, the customer business model, and the platform
    • Drive sprint planning with engineering leaders
    • Own sprint planning and burndown to ensure that work is being delivered on time
    • Own the document generation and filing initiative plan, including market input & validation, tradeoff & risk evaluation
    • Train cross-functional team members on the module or the feature
  • Discovery: Drive market discovery for client-agnostic features
  • Prioritization: Own a product feature or capability and its backlog prioritization
  • Requirements: Write detailed functional and non-functional specifications for use by both technical and non-technical readers
    • Translate market/client business needs as it relates to product optimization
    • Perform rapid, prototype-based requirement gathering
    • Work with Engineering leads to ensure that features are ready for technical design
    • Work with Business Analysts to ensure that delivered capabilities pass acceptance criteria
    • Meet the definition of ready criteria
  • Cross-functional: Work with Business Analysts and Program Directors to ensure that feature requests are documented and understood
    • Work with Business Analysts and Program Directors to obtain signoff on user stories, acceptance criteria, proposed solutions (including wireframe mockups), and delivery deadlines
    • Review scope, functional design, and requirements with the broader Product team to identify dependencies and align cross-module roadmaps
    • Ensure smooth cross-functional communication as it relates to RAID, roadmap, and change management
    • Effectively communicate with both cross functional teams and executive leadership
    • Provide documentation and training for owned capabilities
  • Delivery: Drive product capability delivery planning and execution, and help clear any related roadblocks
  • Demo: Perform product functionality demonstrations to internal and external audiences
  • Design Reviews: Review engineering designs against requirements
  • Project Management: Project management related to market research, definition, construction, and deployments.
    • Define and manage metrics measurements
    • Plan product launches and go-to-market activities including documentation, client-agnostic training, client-agnostic communication, and inputs to Marketing
  • Scrum: Participate in the daily scrum and “scrum of scrum” meetings, product demos, and backlog grooming sessions
    • Drive backlog reviews and sprint planning for new feature work
  • Sales Enablement & Support: Become the Product SME for document generation and filing capabilities and assist in sales pursuits, client agnostic product demonstrations, and solutioning

Ideal Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience providing solutions to the Medicare or Commercial payers as a Product Owner or a Product Manager
  • 3+ years’ experience in product discovery, product optimization, product design, and go-to-market planning and execution for SaaS products
  • 5+ years’ experience leading product initiatives in Agile teams using JIRA and Confluence
  • 5+ years’ experience building, communicating detailed functional & non-functional requirements for technical and non-technical readers
  • Expert understanding of fundamentals of Microsoft Word document template design, word processing software and tools, related third party tools, and document processing (2+ years’ experience in this domain is preferred)
  • 2+ years’ experience in communicating solutions to client problems using product capabilities
  • Experience with data management, integration using API and ETL, batch processing, reporting tools is preferred
  • Experience applying web-oriented design best practices and principles
  • Strong organizing and project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline is preferred
