Position Summary/Scope

HighRoads has made tremendous growth in the Health Payer market and is expanding its footprint. To capitalize on the growth, HighRoads is hiring for a Product Manager (PM) to drive the Document Generation and Filing capabilities. HighRoads is looking for a PM with a background in the Healthcare payer market, specifically with Plan Document and Regulatory experience. In this role, he/she will be the primary subject matter expert (SME) on Health Payer Document Generation and Filing and how it relates to the HighRoads’ solution across Commercial and Medicare lines of business. This individual will be accountable for product operations, product management, and go-to-market functions. He/she will ensure that HighRoads’ product adheres to the CMS compliance requirements and its capabilities are enhanced continuously to meet evolving market needs. This will be an individual contributor role. To be successful in this role, healthcare payer industry experience and deep product experience with Document template design, data management, and document publishing are required.

Responsibilities/Success Factors

Specifically, the Product Manager for Document Generation & Filing will be responsible for:

Product Management

  • Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle for this product.
  • Develop a holistic product point of view with other product leaders and implement it after review/approval.
  • Understand and lead the development of the product roadmap as it relates to expanding the product capabilities based on market needs and drivers
  • Analyze data obtained from CMS and government agencies, clients and partner organizations, product usage, user advisory groups, competitive analysis and present recommendations to move the product forward.
  • Drive the market readiness of new products/enhancements.
  • Define the business and functional requirements/specifications for product implementations and improvements.
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams regarding decisions for adhoc and year-over-year operational changes.
  • Drive product and market discovery, product capability delivery planning, prioritization, and execution; and help clear any related roadblocks.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Professional Services to ensure system design meets operational needs; and perform PO validation.
  • Develop content for product training material; and lead training and roll out of product changes.
  • Define optimal user experience in collaboration with the UI designer and ensures it meets the end user needs.
  • Collaborate with Marketing in the development of marketing materials, communications, and collateral to ensure it is on message and supportive of the brand and position.
  • Retire products at end of life.
  • Develop, measure, and track metrics for product and operations success.

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as healthcare payer Document Generation & Filing SME for cross-functional stakeholders, including the sales process, sales operations, sales workflows, and applicable regulations.
  • Represent product point of view to clients.
  • Stay abreast of the external changes such as competitor offerings, DOH/CMS regulations.
  • Identify product impact, document and distribute insights to internal and external teams using established processes.
  • Guide product and cross-functional teams on regulations, plan/benefits, user experience, member impact, functional and operational impact.
  • Participate in sales demos as the SME for the product lifecycle.

Product Operations Planning & Execution

  • Lead the development, operations, and maintenance of the applicable Medicare and Commercial regulations adherence processes with other Product leaders.
  • Manage product operations.
  • Analyze processes and systems to ensure compliance with contractual agreements, CMS standards and DOH regulations; and collaborate with Product Managers, PO’s, and cross-functional teams on annual revisions to product benefits to keep product compliant.
  • Evaluate new regulations and operationalize where necessary.
  • Develop/update audit mechanisms and programs to ensure product and program compliance.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess and monitor product performance against defined goals and metrics; prepare and present summary reports to stakeholders; and identify opportunities for improvement and work with cross-functional leaders to develop strategies to improve results.
  • Develop project plans and schedules including defining requirements, tasks, work assignments, resources, project milestones, and review points.
  • Monitor project progress through completion, addressing risks and issues effectively, and reporting/escalating appropriately.
  • Proactively identify and comprehensively document necessary creation of and changes to policies, workflows, systems, staffing, and collateral.

Requirements & Qualifications

The following skills are required for consideration for the role of Product Manager:

  • 5 years’ product management experience developing and launching B2B SaaS products using Agile, as it relates to both UI and backend.
  • 5 years’ experience in word processing and template design tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe toolset, OpenText, and third party tools. Deep product expertise is an absolute must, and familiarity with software is insufficient.
  • 5 years’ experience building detailed functional specifications for use by both technical and non-technical readers.
  • 5 years’ payer industry experience in Commercial, Medicare Advantage, or Medicaid Managed Care, working with stakeholders in provider network management, medical management, underwriting, actuarial, claims, sales, and complex customer service. (Preferably, a combination of experience within a health plan and within a software development organization.)
  • 5 years’ project management experience preferably in Commercial or Medicare operations with demonstrated ability to work with details. Demonstrable skills in project planning, scheduling, review, monitoring, risk management, reporting, and escalation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field of study.

The following skills are preferred but not required:

  • 5 years’ experience working with benefit design, provider networks, medical management, and claims required.
  • 5 years’ experience using strong analysis and synthesis skills and ability to present recommendations.
  • Deep understanding of process and technologies related to data ingestion, processing, and distribution as it relates to product development.
  • 5 years’ experience in definition of compelling user experience skills including user journey maps.
  • 5 years’ experience writing effective documents that provide product point of view, product recommendations, and infuse regulatory insights as well as cross-functional and client impact.
  • 5 years’ experience writing effective product training materials.
  • 3 years’ experience in people management, their development, and performance.
  • 3-5 years’ experience presenting a compelling point of view using written materials that may include user flows, regulatory insights, product impact, process impact, among others.
  • Ability to think through and articulate holistic product view verbally and in writing.
  • Balance thought with action, with a bias towards action.
  • Effective writing skills to initiate and lead discussions with cross-functional teams and clients using written inputs that present a product point of view.
  • Minimal ramp up needed to hit the ground running.
  • Master’s degree in related field desired.
