Product Manager

Full-time; US office (remote)

Company

HighRoads is the industry leader in sales-enabling health plan product management. Our cloud-based technology empowers our health plan clients to quickly configure and sell innovative compliant products that meet customer needs and differentiate them from the competition.

Position Summary/Scope

The product management team at HighRoads thrives at the intersection of corporate strategy, market trends, customer feedback, and technical considerations. We work closely with our software engineering partners while maintaining a close relationship with our customer facing peers to ensure we deliver high quality, impactful solutions to our health plan clients. Product Managers at all levels craft near-term plans and long-term strategy based on our clients’ spoken and unspoken needs.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with all facets of product management:

  • Collaborating with client-facing teams to understand the customer situation
  • Engaging with clients and build relationships as a trusted partner in their success
  • Distilling client feedback into common themes
  • Drawing on data, feedback, and previous experience to design solutions
  • Defining requirements, success criteria, and potential future work
  • Maintaining a roadmap that is a product of clear prioritization decisions (roadmaps can exist at all levels, from a feature to a module to a complete product)
  • Working with agility in a scrum environment

We expect product managers to truly own their solution space – with the understanding that solving a problem is always a blend of solution design, software, documentation, communication, rollout, support, and a recommendation for what’s next.

We strongly prefer candidates who have experience with the complexities of internal operations at health plans in the US. HighRoads provides health plans with a platform to maintain a single source of truth for their plan details – and provides solutions to manage, update, track, and communicate those details. We strive to ensure our clients are successful, thus having a sense of their business is crucial to crafting appropriate solutions.

Ideal Qualifications

Our technology is essential to our value, so experience with the software development process is important. We don’t expect product managers to have been hands-on software engineers, but familiarity with modeling complex data, the software development process, and hands-on testing of web-based software is a fundamental aspect of the job.

  • 5+ years of experience product management experience in a software environment
  • An eye for details in terms of data modeling, clear workflow, and UI
  • Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and complex problems.
  • Excellent prioritization, logical deduction, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to innovate in a fast-growing work environment and comfortable dealing with ambiguity – and sorting through that ambiguity!
  • In depth experience with US health insurance market – and interest in developing your knowledge to become an SME in one of our solution spaces

Core Values

Our shared values define how we engage together and with our clients – and we look to identify candidates that can share their experiences with the same values.

  • “Smart”: Customer focus, curiosity, thoughtfulness, holistic solutioning, intellectual rigor, detail orientation/completeness, knowing you don’t know everything
  • Good teammate: Kindness, empathy, dependability, communication, honesty
  • Get it done: Organization/planning skills, problem solving, reliability/kept promises, effort, urgency
  • Persuasiveness: Charisma, well-spoken/written, connection skills, emotional and logical appeal
  • Leadership/Drive: Ambition, positivity, flexibility/adaptability
